Maintenance Plan
Maintenance plans are added to all Fleet Service lease agreements and are available as a one-time opt-in for new purchases of low speed (electric carts), Class 1 and Class 2a vehicles. The plan covers all scheduled maintenance throughout the vehicle lifespan as well as repairs and replacements under normal wear and tear.
This plan is recharged monthly for each vehicle. See rates.
Departments that purchase new vehicles may opt-in to the plan when vehicles are placed into service. The plan lapses when a vehicle becomes 10 years old. Vehicles must meet these eligibility requirements:
- Brand new vehicle, not previously registered
- Under 8,500 lbs. GVWR or under 10,000 lbs. GVWR if ZEV
- Manufactured by a main OEM (Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, GEM, Clubcar, etc.)
What’s included
- All preventative maintenance (oil changes, filters, wipers, tire rotations, belts)
- Safety inspections
- Repairs due to component failure outside of manufacturer warranty
- Tires, brakes and batteries under normal use
- Safety recalls and warranty work (parts and labor)
- UC San Diego decals
- On-campus service calls and off-campus roadside assistance
What’s excluded
- Damage or failure resulting from misuse, abuse or user error
- Non-factory or after-market equipment
- Travel time outside of Fleet Services' garage or third-party towing
- Specialized decals or wraps
- Damage caused by accidents, collisions or road damage
- Environmental damage (flood, rust/corrosion, pests)
- Repairs caused by neglect or missing preventative maintenance services
Fleet Services Central Garage will work on any university-owned vehicle, even if it is not covered under the maintenance plan. These vehicles will be “pay as you go” and will be recharged for parts costs, technician labor time and the current garage repair rates.
