To be eligible for student employment, you must have paid UC San Diego Student Services Fees and be enrolled in at least one class for the current academic quarter. During summer quarter, enrollment in and fee payment for the preceding spring quarter or following fall quarter is sufficient.;

The Transportation Services Field Services division is responsible for helping to ensure that faculty, staff, students and UC San Diego visitors have a wonderful experience. A Field Services Representative typically assists customers on-site in our many parking structures and lots. They help customers understand our parking rules and regulations, direct them to available parking and explain payment options. They help setup/breakdown event signage and provide customers with information, direction and guidance on event parking. They patrol and enforce parking regulations and report on activity or customer safety concerns. Field Services representatives are often the customer’s first point of contact so we perform every task to ensure that first impression of UC San Diego a great one.
Daily duties include setting up and taking down events, directing traffic, welcoming campus visitors, answering questions, providing walking directions and valet parking cars.

Assist in the maintenance of university vehicles: wash exteriors, clean interiors, check tires, report mileage and add gasoline. Complete visual and manual vehicle inspections prior to ensure driving safety, including but not limited to headlights, signal indicator lights, breaks, tires, etc. Report damage, defective equipment and material shortages. Assist Fleet team with administrative duties, such as answering office phones, filing invoices and stocking parts. Coordinate with office staff accurate vehicle dispatching information to provide sufficient customer service. Other duties include driving in and around the Central Garage yard area, shuttling vehicles to and from vendors, washing vehicle exteriors, vacuuming and cleaning interiors, checking tire pressure, assisting with parts acquisition, occasional waxing exteriors and detailing interiors, servicing vehicles with gas, checking automotive equipment for defects, maintaining basic records and assisting with stocking inventory parts and annual inventory audit.
