Helmet, U-Lock and Bluetooth Tracker Discounts

Transportation Services and Associated Students (AS) have partnered to provide all current UC San Diego faculty, staff and students access to one high-tech bike helmet and discounted U-lock in collaboration with Campus Bike & Skate.

Helmet Access Program

What is MIPS technology? MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, which is a leading slip-plane technology inside the helmet designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts. A MIPS helmet offers great protection.

All current UC San Diego faculty, staff and students are eligible to purchase a $10 Giro Isode MIPS or Quarter MIPS helmet from Campus Bike & Skate shop. That’s roughly 80% off!

Select the helmet type and size that works best for your riding style. Helmet sizes and colors are limited to available stock.

• Giro Isode MIPS helmet is adjustable, one-size fits most.
• Giro Quarter MIPS helmet comes in small, medium and large sizes.

Active students, faculty and staff are eligible to claim one Helmet Access Program e-voucher through the parking portal.

U-Lock Discount Program

Current UC San Diego faculty, staff and students are eligible for one voucher that allows them to purchase an OnGuard Bulldog 8010 U-lock from Campus Bike & Skate for just $10—a 75% savings over retail price! We want ALL Tritons to have access to a quality U-lock to protect your bikes and scooters against theft.

The best-selling Bulldog series U-locks offer excellent security and have best-in-class features to keep your bike safe. If the Bulldog 8010 is out of stock or you prefer a different brand, this voucher may be redeemed for $20 off any in-stock U-lock or U-lock + cable combo set.

Active students, faculty and staff are eligible to claim one U-lock Program e-voucher through the parking portal.

Voucher Redemption

Go to Campus Bike & Skate and present your voucher with your valid UC San Diego photo ID. Each voucher has a unique digital verification code that must be shown and verified at the time of redemption.

Exchanges, refunds and returns are not permitted.

Bluetooth Tracker Pilot Program

To help deter micromobility device theft and support recovery efforts, Transportation Services is offering the Tile Bluetooth Tracker at a 60% discount—available for $10 to the first 1,000 customers.

With the Tile or Life360 app, users can monitor their device’s location in real time.

How to Purchase

1. Login to the parking portal to purchase your ($10) Bluetooth Tile Voucher '26.
2. Pick up in person. Bring your voucher receipt and your UC San Diego ID)
   • Where: Parking and Commuter Services office, 10280 North Torrey Pines Rd., Suite 230C
   • When: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekdays

Getting Started

1. Download the Tile or Life360 app on your smartphone.
2. Follow the app instructions to pair your Tile Tracker.
3. Securely attach the Tile Tracker to a concealed location on your bike or scooter.
4. Use the app to track and, if desired, share your device’s location.
