Shared Bikes and Scooters

UC San Diego partners with SPIN to provide shared electric bike and scooter pilot program on campus. Approximately 120 bikes and 480 scooters are available in key campus locations.

Service Area

Bikes and eScooters are meant for on-campus use by students, faculty and staff. If you take a bike or eScooter off campus, you should return it to campus in a timely manner the same day.

SPIN retrieves all locked bicycles and eScooters that are taken off campus. SPIN can pick up or remove any bicycle(s) or eScooter(s) from campus and/or other San Diego locations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.

SPIN GeoZone Parking

SPIN shared eScooters and bikes must park within one of 18 designated SPIN GeoZones to end any ride on campus. Every time a rider opens the app to start a ride, a pop-up message appears explaining the new parking zones.

When riders end a trip, they must park in the GeoZone that appears on the app or SPIN may issue fines for non-compliance. If a ride ends outside of a GeoZone, SPIN will email the user with a warning. If non-compliance continues to be a problem, SPIN may issue a fine.

SPIN will relocate bikes and eScooters throughout the day and ensure that they are parked in GeoZones.

New student riders: Use code TRITON5 to get $5 off when you create an account with an “” email address. Prices for for users with an (or subdomain) email address:
