Advertising Opportunities for Campus Departments and Tenants

UC San Diego departments and tenants can promote their events and services (e.g., Homecoming, Triton Day, grand openings, etc.) on Transportation Services’ shuttles, carts, bus shelters and in parking structures. Advertising on campus digital wayfinding kiosks is also available.

  • Parking structure banners are not produced in-house and customers must use a university-approved printing vendor.
  • Parking structure banners are installed/removed by Facilities Management at a modest cost.

Process

  1. The requesting department or tenant must contact eventsparking@ucsd.edu at least two weeks before the desired installation date.
  2. Transportation Services will review the request for space availability, purpose, design and compliance with brand guidelines and policies and provide a response:
    • Approval
    • Approval pending modifications
    • Rejected with explanation
  3. Transportation Services will produce and install the ads for one month and recharge the requesting department or organization. Departments must provide project and task numbers.

Guidelines

All advertisements must:

  • Relate to campus activities, events, department or tenant programs or services (Associated Students and Graduate & Professional Student Association may place ads for their sponsored activities.)
  • Adhere to brand guidelines

Content must be informative, accurate, fair and polite. Advertisements cannot:

  • Reference sex, drugs or alcohol
  • Support political parties or candidates or contain other speech that would be a prohibited use of university resources

Ad Types and Monthly Pricing

Transportation Services produces and installs ads in buses and at bus shelters. Prices include production, ad space, installation and removal.

Transportation Services will run ads for one month minimum. If more time is available, costs will be prorated by week at 25% of the monthly rate. We reserve the right to remove damaged ads without notice.

Parking Structure Banners

Rates include basic prepress adjustments and exclude creative design services pricing, which starts at $60 per hour for ad/art development. Customers are responsible for arranging media creation, installation and removal with a university-approved vendor and are liable for any damage that may occur. Costs below are for space rental only and do not include the department’s cost to coordinate with vendor.
