Arrange Event Parking and Transportation for Guests

If you're planning a special meeting or event, you can reserve parking for your visitors or guests. You can also order pay station coupon codes for your visitors.

Visiting UC faculty and staff may be eligible for parking discounts.

Review Services and Rates

Event options are evaluated according to individual needs, and scheduled based on available resources.

Service Cost
Reserve space:
  • 5-space limit per event, per department, except in these parking structures, which accommodate as many as 30 spaces:
    • Hopkins
    • Gilman
    • Pangea
    • South

All reservations are subject to space availability.

Weekdays: Campus, SIO and medical centers

  • V space: $24 per space until noon; $39 per space until 11 p.m.

Weekends:

Campus and medical centers

  • $15 per space anytime, includes sign(s) for VIP or group

SIO

  • $39 per space in lots P001, P002 and P003
  • $15 per space in lots p004–P017
Arrange transportation:
  • Charter a shuttle bus to bring participants from remote lots to your event.
  • Commercial vehicle (9–32 passengers): $125/hour
  • Non-Commercial bus/van/minivan (up to 8 passengers): $62.20/hour
  • Cart-only transport (up to 5 passengers):
    • $36/hour weekdays
    • $49/hour weekends

All approved services will have a two-hour minimum applied at the applicable hourly rate.

All approved services will include an additional 60-minute charge for required pre- and post-trip inspections at the applicable hourly rate for required inspections.

  • Example 1: Transportation needed from point A to point B from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (30-minutes) – Two-hour minimum will apply.
  • Example 2: Transportation needed from point A to point B and back to point A from 10 a.m. to noon (120-minutes) – Pre- and Post-trip inspections will be added, 3-hours charged at the applicable rate.
Hire attendants:
  • Attendants direct traffic, collect parking fees, guard spaces, or issue full-price permits, which can be charged to departments:
    • V spaces: $32 per 1 Day permit; $8 per 1 Night permit
  • The number of attendants and hours required depends on the event.
  • Hours of operation:
    • Weekdays 5 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
    • Weekends: 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
    • After hours request approved by availability

Attendant(s):

  • Weekdays: $26 per hour
  • Weekends: $39 per hour

Supervisor:

  • Weekdays: $45.50 per hour
  • Weekends: $50 per hour
  • Holidays: $65 per hour
Request directional signs:
  • Request signs individually or in sets of 6.
  • Major events can require additional signage. Our staff can recommend the quantity best for your event.
  • $12 per standard A-frame sign
  • $65 per set of 6
  • $15 per 24" x 36" marketing sign
  • Placement included.
  • $40 signage monitoring/ replacement fee (events exceeding 2 days)

Submit a Space Request Form

Submit a Special Events Parking Space Request Form:

  • At least 3 business days before events needing 5 spaces or less
  • At least 2 calendar weeks before events needing more than 5 spaces
  • A late fee up to 20% of space cost may be assessed for requests not made within these guidelines.
  • Note: Space approval is based on availability.

Upon approval, reserved spaces must be:

  • Recharged to a departmental chart of accounts
  • Paid by check or money order (mailed to the Hopkins Parking Structure (map), Mail Code 0540)

Note: University policy prohibits use by faculty and staff of a university-funded parking space.

Arrange Shuttle or Cart Service

Triton Transit is proud to provide campus departments with bus and cart service to support academic, extracurricular and public-facing events. We are supporting charter services to the best of our ability; however, we cannot currently accept all charter requests and maintain the service necessary for campus operations. Requests for transportation service must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance, though one month advance notice is recommended.

To request bus or cart charter service, contact eventsparking@ucsd.edu with your event and transportation needs. Please note that the following information must be confirmed at the time of request and you may be contacted for additional information or clarification, if needed:

  • Date(s) and time(s) service is needed
  • Itinerary
  • Exact pick-up/drop-off location(s) – to ensure vehicle safety and access
  • Number of passengers expected
  • Valid university department Chart of Account (Project and Task numbers) and contact information for authorizing agent
  • Valid contact information (including cell phone) for “Day of Service” point of contact

Changes and Cancellations

Notify us of any change or cancellation as soon as possible to avoid penalties. Email Special Events Parking, or call (858) 822-2624, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays.

Fees:

  • Changes or cancellations with 3 or more working days’ notice: up to 20% of event cost
  • Changes or cancellation with fewer than 3 days’ notice: 50% of event cost
