Re-Cycle Bicycle Program

As part of UC San Diego’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, Transportation Services is thrilled to introduce the Re-Cycle Bicycle Program, launching Earth Week 2025! This new initiative aims to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly transportation options on campus.

The Re-Cycle Bike Program will provide a convenient way for students, staff and faculty to dispose of old, unused or damaged bicycles. In collaboration with UC San Diego Surplus Sales, we'll auction salvageable bicycles or recycle items that can no longer be used. Whether you have a bike that needs repair or one that's gathering dust, Re-Cycle makes it easy to give it a second life while supporting our campus community.

Why Re-Cycle?

  • Reduce Waste: Divert bikes from landfills and give them a new purpose.
  • Support Eco-Friendly Transportation: Help support sustainable commuting options by making more  bicycle parking stalls available on campus.
  • Donate: If you don’t want to recycle, you can donate bicycles or purchase refurbished ones from our friends at San Diego Bicycle Coalition and San Diego Bicycle Collective.
