Campus Lock Cut Service
Eligible UC San Diego affiliates may request a Bicycle Resource Official to cut off a lock to recover their bicycle, scooter or other micromobility device parked at any campus bike rack. The official will safely cut and remove your U-Lock, steel chain, braided cable and/or padlock.
Lock cut services:<
- Can only be requested by the registered owner of a bike, scooter or device (Please register your ride before requesting lock cut services. Free registration provides proof of ownership for device recovery and insurance.)
- Cost $25
- Are available between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays, excluding university holidays
How to Request Campus Lock Cut Service
- Go to My Accounts > Parking Account > Login via UC San Diego Single Sign-On > Click “Get Permits” > Select “Campus Lock Cut Service $25” > Complete payment transaction.
- After payment, you will receive an email receipt with detailed scheduling instructions.
- Click the Calendly link in your receipt to schedule your lock cut appointment with the Bicycle Resource Official on the available date and time.

No refunds, exchanges or credits will be issued for unfulfilled lock cut requests. You are responsible for following through with your appointment.Lock Cutting Day
At your scheduled cut time, you must show these items to the Bicycle Resource Official:
- Proof of payment (receipt)
- Proof of ownership (Bike Index)
- CA Driver’s License or UC San Diego ID
